Pibline is looking for a Senior Pipeline Integrity Engineer to join its team in Edmonton, Alberta. This position reports to our Vice President of Pipeline Engineering.

The main focus for this position is to support and assist with the coordination of planning, development, and administration of technical engineering activities to support the development of the Pibline products which includes day-to-day operational knowledge transfer with the development team and other engineering-related tasks throughout the company.

This position also helps develop, implement, administer and creates multiple tools, processes and programs to support the Pibline products which are directly related to pipeline integrity, safety & regulatory compliance. This individual also actively works to build influence and establish / maintain a positive image for Pibline by actively interfacing with regulators, trade associations and other industry work groups.

Primary duties will be in the areas of technical integrity, risk management and regulatory support.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops technical details for relevant Engineering Specifications and Standards that will be translated into the Pibline solutions (mobile and web) – this will include failure analysis algorithms, NDE field collection data dictionaries, ILI analysis algorithms
  • Improve the effective interpretation of regulations, codes and industry standards to support the development of the Pibline products
  • Understand “market performance” in the area of pipeline design and integrity analysis
  • Develops technical calculations on pipeline related solutions and methodologies to do things different in the pipeline industry
  • Interface between Project Managers and third party engineering resources within our operating company and service company clients
  • Responsible for analyzing / inspecting the design of liquid and gas pipelines with our clients
  • Possessing an understanding of industry standards related to pipeline design
  • Demonstrating an understanding of current and emerging Pipeline DOT, NEB and AER regulations
  • Staying current with the pipeline regulations, industry standards, integrity assessment methods, repair methods, etc.
  • Identifying preventive and mitigate measures that can assist pipeline operators

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering: Engineering, Metallurgy or Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • Strong background with ASME e.g. API 653, API 1160, ASME B31.4), API, MSS, NACE, and ASTM codes and standards (certifications would be preferred)
  • 15+ years of engineering experience in the oil and gas industry or chemicals industry
  • Providing Engineering support for Pipeline Integrity Projects including welding calculations, material selections, determination of required hydrostatic test pressures, MOP/MAOP calculations, evaluation of defects and recommending appropriate repairs
  • Ability to perform calculations for wall thickness determination of piping systems
  • Requires strong analytical skills and special attention to detail with the ability to multi-task
  • Excellent communication skills both (oral & writing) and have the ability to work effectively with all levels of management within the organization and with a technical development team
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple, high priority projects with a keen attention to detail
  • Must be able to identify and solve problems and seek solutions from the pipeline integrity community
  • Strong background and experience in risk assessment methodologies
  • At least 10 years of related experience in the following areas strongly preferred:
    • Interpretation of DOT/ PHMSA / NEB / AER regulations and standards.
    • Inspection/testing, maintenance of pipeline(s)
  • Pipeline design/installation/fabrication

  • Assisting the marketing and product groups in evaluation of ideas to make go/ no go market decisions
  • Developing prototypes for the ideas that get “Go” decision from stakeholders related to web development (front UI and backend integration)
  • Working with development groups within the company to take the prototypes to production
  • Assisting in crafting and maintaining the future state technology architectural strategy and roadmap
  • Evaluate new technologies and software products to determine feasibility and desirability of incorporating their capabilities within the company’s core products (we are doing things differently from an enterprise software development perspective and we want to be on the bleeding edge of technology innovations
  • Working with third party vendors to develop software and/or integrate their software into the company’s products

YOU HAVE

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science with 15+ years of experience
  • Strong Object Oriented Design Skills with Java
  • Extensive Web development expertise (HTML5, CSS3, responsive design, API development, web services development)
  • Experienced in utilizing one or more Web MVC Frameworks (JSF, Spring MVC, etc.)
  • HTML, JavaScript, jQuery, BootStrap, AngularJS, NodeJS and CSS
  • Full understanding of Service Oriented Architecture and SOAP Web Services
  • Full understanding of REST architecture principles and JAX-RS specification
  • Comfortable with JSON and XML document models
  • Understands special considerations when building REST services for AJAX clients, such as CORS, XSRF, caching, queuing
  • Experience with Spring Framework
  • Experience with Hibernate / JPA
  • Good understanding and experience with MongoDB
  • Excellent analytical, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills coupled with a strong work ethic
  • Ability to work independently and you possess exceptional strong problem solving skills

Skills and Requirement

  • 7 – 10 years professional sales experience in high-tech or service-related industries, preferably software sales and software licensing experience within the Oil and Gas Industry
